April Volunteer of the Month: Mike Greve
Congratulations to Mike Greve, April’s Volunteer of the Month! Mike has only been with us for a little over 3 months, but in that time he has gone above and beyond to help in every way possible. He goes on nearly all of our shorter distance rescues to Vermont and New Hampshire, and he is always willing to help with the dirty jobs (like quarantine cleans!). Beyond his willingness to help, he always has a smile and a positive attitude that really brightens up the shelter. Here’s what Mike has to say to about volunteering with Coastal:
What motivates you to volunteer with Coastal Humane Society?
I am motivated mostly by my love for the animals. It’s easy for me to make time when I know there are dogs and cats in need of: a ride to the shelter, a clean kennel, or just someone to interact with them.
What do you like best about volunteering with Coastal?
I have to say I’m really enjoying the transports. It feels good knowing you are a key piece in helping these animals find homes. There is nothing better than after a long ride, seeing them enter the kennel with a fresh bed, food, water, and toys! It’s like a kid at Christmas!
What would you tell people who are interested in volunteering?
This volunteering gig has totally made me a better person. It can really put things in perspective and you take home a huge feeling of pride along with it. I would also say, think about changing the course of an animal’s life, and not only the animal, but also the fulfillment it will bring to whoever adopts it!
Our VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH series profiles our incredible, hardworking, beloved volunteers. Each month, this V.I.P.’s picture and award will be displayed on our website, at our Range Road building for the month, and their name inscribed on a special plaque.
