"When we least expect kindness and generosity, both can walk through our doors in the form of young people." Sandy, CHS Staff Member It is heartening for us at CHS to see the dedication so many of the young people in our community have for animals in need. We want to show you some of the imaginative things these young people are doing to help, let you meet these young folks, and also say a public "Thank-you!" to them. They offer helping hands today and a bright light into tomorrow! |
The Paws for a Cause dog walk was a success on Sunday, September 23 - more so than we had ever expected. Little did we know on that same day, dimpled and doe-eyed Zelda was hosting a party with seven guests to celebrate her eighth birthday! Zelda came to our shelter that Monday bearing (her) gifts for our animal residents. There were Friskies, Milk Bones, dishes, toys, treats, timothy hay for rabbits, baby food, a kong ... so many items. In addition to the bags and bags of gifts, sweet Zelda gave us $8 to be used in any way to help the animals in our care. Zelda has three cats, two dogs, and a rabbit of her own at home. That's an animal lover! Her dad tells us it is a family tradition to give to others whether they be human or animal. When asked if we could take her photograph for this feature, Zelda knew it had to be with a kitten in her arms. The photo here exemplifies the gentle nature yet vivacity of a young lady who is destined to make a difference in our world. Her protective cuddling of this kitten says it all, doesn't it? |
