In February of 2007, Coastal Humane Society lost one of its finest volunteers and most faithful supporters. It is via Don's unfailing support that we have benefitted from knowing him. He came in on his Saturdays to wash down the cages for our canine population. He could often be found washing dishes or walking dogs. Many times he gave up his holiday to help with the daily routine so that our own employees could spend time with their own families. In later years, Don accepted the responsibility for collecting "Millie's Donation Cans" at area businesses from Bailey Island to Harpswell to Bath to Brunswick to Topsham to Phippsburg. Don Beattie enriched our lives and the lives of all who came in contact with him. Whenever we needed support, Don was always there. |
