Sherman

Sherman is an American Staffordshire terrier; he was born on August 15, 2005, is neutered and weighs 50 pounds.

Sherman knows a variety of commands: come, sit, shake, down, get your toy, bring it here, drop it. He is an intelligent boy who picks up commands quite easily. They also tell us he displays the “prey drive” common to his breed noting it is hard to redirect him once he has spotted something he wants to chase whether that be cats, birds, squirrels, etc. He is able to jump a fence shorter than five feet in height. He loves to run and will run any chance he gets. He needs to be secured in his area.

Sherman loves people and loves to be petted displaying no aggression to humans though he must not be adopted into a home with small children. He tends to listen best to males and is prone to jumping up on people to get attention. He loves to cuddle and be close to his people. He must be the only pet in his new home. This young guy is easier to control with a Gentle Leader rather than a collar. Sherman is both crate trained and housebroken. When left alone, he must be in a crate or kennel. He does tend to shred his blanket when in his crate. His previous owners tell us he has separation anxiety; if left alone, he must be kenneled. Sherman does not like to ride in a car; he gets carsick.
